A publicist for George Carlin says the legendary comedian hasdied of heart failure at a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif.

Jeff Abraham says Carlin went into St. John's Health Centeron Sunday afternoon, complaining of chest pain. Carlin died at 5:55p.m. PDT. He was 71.

CHICAGO (AP) — Drugstore chain Walgreen Co. said Monday its fiscal third-quarter profit rose 2 percent as it focused on cost control and maintained a rapid expansion pace in a difficult retail environment.
